Recommended materials
• PAPER: Arches 300gsm rough. 140lb. Other good paper is Two Rivers or Millford. Expect to work at about 12 inches across, about the size of an A4 sheet. Joe stretches his paper by soaking it both sides for 10 minutes and stapling it to varnished plywood with 6mm Stanley A class staples. He removes staples after the painting has dried with a carpet fitters tack lifter and a self grip wrench.

Cadmium lemon,
Quinacridone gold,
Phthalo green,
Paynes Grey,
Burnt Sienna,
Burnt umber,
Naples yellow,
Quinacridone Magenta,
Phthalo blue,
Ultramarine Blue,
Cobalt blue
If you haven't got exactly the right colours, don't worry, you can probably get by just fine with what you do have.
No masking fluid necessary.
Large palette with flat mixing area such as household crockery - is its not already mentioned.
Brushes - Sables or any good watercolour brushes.
