At 3:30PM (UK time) on Tuesday 30th November join well known watercolour artist Matthew Palmer for a longer and more in-depth workshop, painting a Christmas themed 'Robin on a frosty tap'. A 2-3 hour step-by-step webinar, broadcast live from England.

WHAT YOU WILL COVER

Learn how to paint this detailed watercolour of a cheeky robin perched on a frosty tap.


From the drawing to the painting, Matthew will teach in full step-by-step detail so that you can follow along with every brush stroke.


Techniques learnt will include: Drawing animals, use of masking fluid, wet in to wet, contrast, shadows and light, and texture effects.


To compliment the workshop, Matthew will also be referring to specific chapters in the book as he progresses.

Recommended materials


Watercolour tubes:

Any violet

Yellow ochre

Alizarin crimson

Burnt Sienna

Cadmium red

French ultramarine blue

Opaque white or gouache


Brushes:

Size 12-14 round

Size 5-6 round

Size 1-2 rigger or detailer

12 mm flat brush


Paper:

1/4 imperial 140lb/300gsm NOT surface watercolour paper, stuck to a board with masking tape


Other materials:

Masking fluid and making brushes/older brushes for the application

Standard pencil Matthew recommends a 2B

Craft knife
