Enjoy the process of combining watercolour and pen following step by step instructions.
You will learn the basic techniques of watercolour, how to sketch the scene, how to create dynamic washes and loose brush strokes using vibrant watercolours.
You'll also discover how to use different types of lines to define edges and enhance your loose watercolour washes, creating character, and layering watercolours washes to create depth.
Example painting (workshop will create something different)
Watercolour paper- size approx. 25 x 25 cm, and some loose sheets for practice
Watercolour paint- basic colours in pans or tubes
Watercolour brush- round pointed brush, size 10 or 12; 1 large flat brush(optional)
Waterproof Pen- it could be a dip pen or fountain pen (with waterproof ink), brush pen or a micro tip pen. It is best to use a waterproof pen so that you have the flexibility to paint over it using watercolour.
2 jars of water (one to wash the brush and another for fresh, clean water)
A light drawing board/ foam board for taping paper down, if using loose watercolour sheets.
Suggested watercolour pigments/ Watercolour pigments used:
Alizarin crimson red
