SUMMARY
In this prelude to his full, 2-3 hour workshop webinar Joe will teach you how to paint mountains, rocks and water in virtually any setting. Whilst covering how to mix any colour he will show you how to paint water easily including shallow water and underwater stones and complete the scene by painting the mountains so they look distant.

MATERIALS
• PAPER: Arches 300gsm rough, 15” x 11” or quarter imperial recommended.
• PAINTS: Tube paints. Joe uses artists quality. Van Gogh student colours are good value. White Knight pans are the only pans that I know are OK for this. You can usually use a number of different pigments and colours to get similar results and I can give alternatives on the day.
Cadmium lemon. Burnt Sienna. Cobalt blue, Ultramarine blue. Phthalo blue, (Windsor Blue red or green shade). Quinacridone magenta (or similar Quinacridone or Alizarin crimson). Quinacridone gold. Burnt sienna. Burnt umber. Payne's grey or Neutral tint. Phthalo green.
• BRUSHES: Sable Round brushes. Size 3 and 7. Larger natural fibre wash brush, Goat, Hake, squirrel or sable
Note, pointed sable brushes are referred to as "Round" or "Rounds". They are round headed when dry, pointed when wet. When new they are fashioned into a point with wax, and enclosed in a plastic tube. Never ever replace the plastic tube once it has been removed, as this causes damage to the fibres.
• OTHER: China Palettes - 4 or 5 square or rectangular ceramic sandwich plates, but any sandwich plates are fine. Kitchen roll. Spare Watercolour paper for testing colour. Typing or printer paper for techniques which may be used. A sheet of tracing paper can be helpful. Big water jars. ‘B’ or 2B. Knife for sharpening, or pencil sharpener.
